Rotorua Marathon: Running for Cyclone Gabrielle

The Alcom team had a fantastic day out at the Rotorua Marathon earlier this month, running to raise money for the Cyclone Gabrielle relief effort.

Brendan ran the full marathon while the rest of us did the 10km event. Although rainy conditions prevailed, the positive energy at the start/finish line and the upbeat mood of participants throughout kept everyone going.

Thanks to the event organisers and all supporters for making it such a great day. Great effort Team Alcom Connect! We are looking forward to next year already.

On a more serious note, we want to acknowledge the ongoing challenges faced by our neighbours throughout the Tairāwhiti and Hawkes Bay regions. Many people are facing months, if not years, of rebuilding their homes, livelihoods and communities. We wanted to do something to help.

We are happy to say we raised $1000 which has been donated to the Tairāwhiti Disaster Relief Trust. This Trust is a registered charity, administered by Gisborne District Council. It is audited to ensure every cent goes to the welfare of those recovering from storm events in the region.
